The first courses to be taught in XLRI are like management courses and trade unions. The students willing to take admission to this institution have to take the entrance exam XAT. The application form has to be collected from the institute website. The institute offers a gamut of courses ranging from two year full time courses to one year executive programs. The Personnnel Management and Industrial Management course is the oldest among all the teaching programs. It was launched in the year 1953. This program in XLRI is the best in the Asia – Pacific region. This is an HR program. It is a two year full time postgraduate diploma, the students requires to be graduates. In this course the importance is given in human resource planning, human resource information systems, selection, performance management, compensation related issues, training and development etc. The Business Management course is a two year full time post graduation diploma.The candidates are required to graduates at the least. This course imparts knowledge on the present business condition. It is an integrated course of management theory and practice. This course helps in overall development of a student both in terms of knowledge and the right attitude. General Management course is a one year full time program. It is to hone the managerial skills in the professionals. The candidates eligible for this course should have at the least a graduation degree from any recognized University. The Executive Management Program for Defense officers is to polish the managerial skills in the defense officers. Other programs offers by the institute are Executive Postgraduate Program, Fellow Program in Management, Executive fellow Program in management, Satellite Programs, Management development Programs and International Student Exchange Program.XLRI or the Xavier Labour Research Institute is one of the most premier BSchools in India. The Institute dates back to the year of 1949. It is situated in the steel city of Jamshedpur. Jesuit Priest, Father Quinn Enright had established the institute. It is one of the oldest institutes in India to impart management education.
